When down means up

Downsizing has been a popular method among auto makers for years as a way to increase efficiency by forcing more oxygen into the combustion process, which allows the engine to be designed smaller and thus take more weight off the overall size of the vehicle. Unfortunately, downsizing has it limits and the physics of it all will only allow the reduction to only go so far.

A new look for World Congres

Like everything else associated with the car industry, the Society of Automotive Engineers World Congress itself has gone through a noticeable downsizing. This year’s event – the annual gathering in Detroit of auto engineers that kicked off today – presented an entirely new look.

The cost of efficiency

New U.S. fuel efficiency standards approved Thursday call for better engine efficiency and emissions over the next six years. No doubt, this is great timing for auto makers and the Scuderi Engine.
