An ominous warning that the rapid rise in oil prices has only just begun

The Independent By Danny Fortson, Business Correspondent Wednesday, 11 June 2008 The chief executive of the world's largest energy company has issued the most dire warning yet about the soaring the price of oil, predicting that it will hit $250 per barrel "in the foreseeable future". The forecast from Alexey Miller, the head of the Kremlin-owned gas giant Gazprom, would herald the arrival of £2-per-litre petrol and send shockwaves through the economy. His comments were the most stark to be expressed by an industry executive and come just days after the oil price registered its largest-ever single-day spike, hitting $139.12 per barrel last week amid fears that the world's faltering supply will be unable to keep up with demand. Mr Miller's prediction is well beyond even the most heady market forecasts, the most extreme of which fall between $150 and $200 per barrel, and was explained only by vague references to demand from the developing world. It nonetheless stoked an already febrile atmosphere of growing public anger across Europe over a soaring fuel cost that is wreaking havoc at nearly every level of the economy. The Scuderi Group just completed a week-long visit to Munich, Germany, where it attended the MTZ-Konferenze Motor, where automotive R&D engineers from around Europe descended to discuss powertrain development, new hybrid technologies, and Europe's tough emissions standards. Scuderi engineering and licensing representatives participated in the event, meeting with a number of European contacts from the automotive OEM, supplier, or academic sectors. The intimate venue gave the Scuderi Air-Hybrid Engine great exposure to the region, which helped drive new meetings with more European automakers, including a long off-site meeting at the one of the local OEMs in Munich . A couple of press interviews were also conducted. The highlight of the event was the Scuderi Group's sponsoring of the grand cocktail reception prior to the MTZ Banquet on 3 June held at the Schlofs Dachau Castle in Munich. Scuderi Group Vice President Stephen Scuderi gave a short presentation of the air-hybrid engine's technology and its impact on the industry, particularly the engine's ability to surpass European emission standards without compromising power and fuel efficiency. Lutz Deyerling of Scuderi Group "It was an incredible reception for us here in the castle,"commented Scuderi VP of European Operations Lutz Deyerling (at right). "The guests gave us and the air-hybrid an amazing round of applause and made us feel very welcome here in Munich. We've had great discussions with the OEMs here and we're excited about the continued progress this event allows us to make." The Scuderi Group plans to participate in the event next year and present their technology in more depth.

By John Wilen, AP Business Writer Oil prices rebound on demand forecasts, supply concerns and tensions in Nigeria NEW YORK (AP) - Oil prices resumed their upward trek Tuesday, rising sharply as investors focused once again on growing global demand for crude. Retail gasoline prices rose to a new record over $4.04 a gallon. The catalyst for oil's latest advance was an International Energy Agency report that said global demand will continue to rise, especially in China. Demand for fuel for reconstruction work in the aftermath of May's earthquake will boost Chinese oil demand by 5.5 percent this year, the IEA said, a slightly higher forecast than in previous reports. Scuderi introduces Air-Hybrid-Engine at the MTZ conference Motor 2008 in Munich (June 3-4) The Scuderi Group provides information about the status of their current research – Prototype is projected West Springfield, Massachusetts, USA / Munich – June 4th 2008 – At the MTZ conference Motor 2008 the Scuderi Group will present the recent progress in developing the patent-registered Air-Hybrid-Engine. The Scuderi Air-Hybrid-Engine is expected to be the world’s most fuel-efficient internal combustion engine. By attending the MTZ conference 2008 in Munich the Scuderi Group emphasizes its commitment to the German market. “The MTZ conference gives us the great opportunity to exchange thoughts about the Scuderi engine with experienced experts from the automotive industry,” said Lutz Deyerling, Vice President of European Operations of the Scuderi Group. “Especially in Germany we meet experts and potential partners that support our innovative invention.“ One of Scuderi’s closest official partners is Bosch Engineering. Ambassadors of the automotive industry and science present their methods of resolution under the name “Tomorrow’s type of drive“ at the Deutsches Museum Flugwerft Schleißheim. Focus of the discussion lies on the topic “reduction of fuel consumption and enhancing the effectiveness”. Both objectives are key topics of the Scuderi Air-Hybrid-Engine. An independent laboratory confirmed recently that the split cycle and valve unit achieve or even exceed all prognoses of current computer simulations. Those studies verified that with its groundbreaking split cycle arrangement the Scuderi engine achieves a fuel effectiveness and performance enhancement like no engine before. The engine emits 80 percent less nitrogen oxides (NOx) compared to conventional and hybrid engines. Scuderi is planning on presenting one of the world’s first prototypes by the end of this year. “At the Engine Expo in Stuttgart we already had the chance to surprise engineers from all over Europe with the positive development of our models. We’re looking forward to getting more credit for our invention and to holding lots of productive discussions with renowned German experts at the MTZ conference in Munich“, said Sal Scuderi, president of the Scuderi Group.
